Sage Patanjali was the first person to present the ancient tradition of Yoga in a systematic way. It is said he lived around 200 B.C.

 

In the Yoga Sutras, Patanjali described Yoga as the means by which our mind can be made free from all distractions. 

 
 
 
 
 

 

ADI SHANKARA ACHARYA
 

   

 

 

788 - 820, the most eminent philosopher of anicient India. He renounced the world when he was eight and travelled trough out India.

 

He is the founder of many ashrams, where monks are still teaching the scriptures. Shankara was the chief promoter of advaita-vedanta which he made accessible for everybody.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

SWAMI SIVANANDA

 

 

 

Sri Swami Shivananda (1887-1963) was one of the greatest Yoga masters of the 20th century. Swami Shivananda founded the integral yoga which includes all four yoga paths, for fast spiritual growth and easy understanding for every man. 

He also wrote more than three hundred books about Yoga and Philosophy.
